Today's storytime was about one my favorite places...the library! There are so many fun stories about the library that are excellent to read out loud.
Books:
My first story was one of my personal favorites from childhood, Don Freeman's "Quiet! There's a Canary in the Library". This story was originally published in 1969 and many children and parents today have never heard of it, so it's fun to introduce it to a new generation.

I also read "The Wonderful Book" by Leonid Gore, and "It's Library Day" by Janet Morgan Stoke. Other books I pulled but did not read today were "Lola at the Library" by Anna McQuinn and "Maisy Goes to the Library" by Lucy Cousins.
Other Books about Books and Libraries:
Check it Out! Reading, Finding, Helping by Patricia Hubbell
There's a Dragon in the Library by Dianne de Las Casas
Maisy Goes to the Library by Lucy Cousins
Lola at the Library by Anna McQuinn
Art project: Today's art project was very open-ended. We gave the kids identical small blue pre-made books with unlined white paper inside. Pencils, fine point markers and stickers were provided, and children and parents were encouraged to practice writing and drawing a story together.
